5 Star Subject: Every page is useful Date: December 16, 2003 Name: Anonymous When my boss told me that he needed the drawing views of a model that are developed in SolidWorks 2004, I went hunting for a book that would tell me what I needed to know. Am I ever glad that I found this one! I've had plenty of experience with programs such as Pro/E, CATIA, Inventor, etc ... so for me, most books are usually too basic or very general. This book is an amazing blend of basic concepts and advanced techniques. Never before have I seen an author give so many useful and insightful tips and guidelines. There is so much contained in this book that you may never figure out on your own, even with years of experience. One of the SolidWorks designers in my office continually asks to borrow my copy of this book, and he's been using SolidWorks since version 98!! According to me the greatest thing about the book is that it is not
simply another book that tells you everything you could find in the help
files. It also makes a wonderful reference. Don't expect to get rid of
this book once you finish it. You will find that you are referring to it
again and again, I know I do. Seriously, I'm not one to tell people to
waste money on a book that teaches them what they could very well learn
somewhere else for free ... but if you plan an doing any Solid Modeling
and product development at all, you absolutely must own this book. My only
advice to you is to hang on to the teaching and learning aids that comes
with this book. Do not tell my friend that the free learning aids are
available on www.cadcim.com. Because
of the traffic on the website you may have to stand in a queue. The book
is wonderfully complemented by learning resources and you will definitely
love the learning material on the website. |

5 Star Subject: Complete reference book Date: December 20, 2003 Name: Anonymous Before spending $69 for a book, I wanted to make sure that this book has the right material that I needed so that I don't have to regret later. So I decided to download the free chapters of this book from www.cadcim.com. I liked the way the chapters were presented and so I decided to buy this book. I must say that this book is extremely well laid out starting from the sketching, then part modeling, assembly, and then detailing and drafting. I am a fully satisfied customer of this book. I just love the way author has presented the material and the depth to which he has covered the topics. I contacted the publisher of this book at sales@cadcim.com and received free learning resources that included the part, assembly, and drawing files, solution to exercises and questions, and lot of other material. I think it is a smart decision to first download the free chapters and check whether this is what we want or not. Thanks everyone for letting us do this. |

5 Star Subject: Essential for Industrial Designers Date: November 03, 2003 Name: Martin Symonds (Spain) I am a team leader in a Graphics Designing and Modeling company in Spain. My team has learnt SolidWorks 2003 by starting from scratch using this book within a record period of time without any help of an instructor or faculty. Actually the challenge was to train our team of designer on SolidWorks so that they can handle the new projects at the earliest. The best part of this book is the step-by-step explanation of creating the models; the mechanical projects also helped my team a lot to learn SolidWorks. I suggest this book as an essential for industrial designers if they are serious to learn and work efficiently in SolidWorks. |
